Hi, I'm Matt.
I've spent my career on the shopfloor side of software. This is where I write down what I've learnt about making factories smarter.

Why this site exists
Smart manufacturing and AI are everywhere right now. Most of what gets written about them skips the hard part: the shopfloor systems, data and processes that have to be in place before any of it works.
That's what I write about. Shopfloor AI and smart factory strategy, plus the MES and MOM foundations underneath them, from real implementations rather than brochures. Some of it is educational, for people early in the journey. Some is opinion, earned the hard way.
The goal is simple: close the gap between the AI hype and the practical reality of running a factory.
